LeMans women's shorts and pants - sewing tutorial
Before sewing
For sewing this sorts we recommend to use a Jersey knit.
SUPPLIES
- Main fabric;
- Interfacing tape – 30 cm (11,8″);
- Eyelets – 2 pcs. (if you insert the cord into the waistband);
- Cord into the waistband;
- Elastic for waistband 4.5 cm (1,77″) wide.

SEWING INSTRUCTIONS
Iron the interfacing tape along the pocket entrance on the Front wrong side. If you choose to use cord in the waistband, then iron the interfacing to the place of grommets. Mark the stitching lines on the waistband.
Pin the small pocket piece to the Front with the right sides together and stitch. Press.
Bend the pocket piece to the wrong side and press. Topstitch along the folded edge to 0,2 cm (0,08″).
Pin the big pocket piece to the small pocket piece with the right sides together along the curved edge and serge. Press.
Pin the Front pant legs together with the right sides along the crotch line. Serge. Press allowances to the side.
Pin the Back pant legs together with the right sides along the crotch line. Serge. Press allowances to the side.
Pin the Front and Back parts together with the right sides along the outseam. Serge. Press allowances to the back.
Pin the Front and Back parts together with the right sides along the inseam. Serge. Press allowances to the back.
Fold the bottom hem twice according to the pattern and press.
Make invisible stitch to fix the folded hem to the garment.
Fold the waistband in half along the short edge with the right side together. Stitch on sewing machine. Press allowances open.
Fold the waistband in half with the wrong side and press. To reduce thickness, trim the allowances. Place the grommets if you decide to thread the cord.
Pin elastic’s short edges together and stitch, making ring.
Insert elastic into the waistband, aligning 4 notches (Fold in half the elastic – mark 2 notches, aligning these 2 notches and mark 2 more notches.)
Stitch 3 parallel lines along the waistband, stretching the elastic.
Pin the waistband to the garment’s waistline with the right sides together aligning the notches. Serge. Press the allowances to the garment.
Make the final ironing of the garment.
